Critical Minerals: UAE and US Sign a Framework to Secure Supply
The United Arab Emirates and the United States have signed a joint framework aimed at supporting mining activities and processing of critical minerals and rare earth elements, as part of broader efforts to strengthen supply chain security and improve source reliability.
The agreement was signed on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting on critical minerals held in Washington, where discussions focused on expanding industrial partnerships and boosting processing and refining capabilities to meet rising demand from technology and energy-related sectors.
Investment and industrial cooperation
The framework is designed to encourage investment and knowledge sharing across exploration, development, and processing, helping build more resilient capacity for critical minerals while reducing risks tied to market volatility and overreliance on a single supplier.
The move is expected to create new opportunities for mining and related value-chain companies, with an emphasis on transparency, sustainability, and securing stable supply for global markets.
