Dubai to Launch Commercial Air Taxi Service by End of 2026
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority announced that commercial air taxi operations are set to begin by the end of 2026, marking a major step in the emirate’s drive toward future mobility.
Director General Mattar Al Tayer said preparations are on track following the successful test flight conducted by Joby Aviation in June 2025 of its fully electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft.
The Joby air taxi can travel up to 160 kilometers at speeds of 320 km/h and is designed to be environmentally friendly with zero emissions and low noise suitable for dense urban areas.
In 2024 the California-based company signed an agreement granting it exclusive rights to operate air taxis in Dubai for six years, paving the way for integration into the city’s public transport network and offering residents and visitors a fast and safe mobility option.
