UAE and Canada Launch Strategic Partnership for Advanced Nuclear Research
The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation has signed a memorandum of understanding with Canada’s Saskatchewan Research Council and the Global Institute for Energy, Minerals and Society to expand cooperation in nuclear research and advanced technologies.
The agreement focuses on the development of small modular reactors and next-generation systems, alongside efforts to enhance operational performance and safety standards of nuclear facilities.
It also explores the use of digital solutions such as artificial intelligence and robotics to support safe and efficient nuclear operations.
The partnership emphasizes knowledge exchange and human-capacity development through joint training programs, drawing on the UAE’s experience in operating the Barakah nuclear power plants.
The initiative is seen as a strategic move to strengthen clean-energy capabilities and support a low-carbon economic transition in both countries.
